CFM Shortlisted for NHMF Best Practice Awards 2018

CFM are pleased to be shortlisted as a finalist in the National Housing Maintenance Forum 'Best Practice in Maintenance Awards' 2018.

The NHMF awards recognise success and ingenuity within the housing sector across the UK. They showcase projects and organisations that have excelled in improving the quality and efficiency of the services they provide.CFM in association with our client the Northern Ireland Housing Executive have been short listed for the 'Best Contract' award, which recognises the contract that was best managed for a maintenance provider by an external contractor. This award recognises the excellent service offering CFM have delivered on behalf of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive in providing efficient maintenance and improvements services to 26,000 properties. We are delighted to have been short listed for such a prestigious award and very much look forward to attending the NHMF Annual Conference and Awards Ceremony in Birmingham in January.

CFM Placement Student Shortlisted for 'Student of the Year Award' at the All-Ireland Topcon, Plant & Civil Engineer Awards

Stephen Mc Elwee, our Quantity Surveying placement student was shortlisted for ‘Student of the Year Award’ at the All-Ireland Topcon, Plant & Civil Engineer Awards hosted at the Crown Plaza in Belfast last week. Stephen was among the top students across the North put forward for this prestigious award.

Stephen is now enrolled at NWRC in a 2-year course in Sustainable Construction and is currently on his second year. Stephen feels that “the course at NWRC instilled a confidence in me, alongside a valuable, theoretical and practical set of skills which I now apply on the job.”  Next year Stephen will progress into his 3rd year in an under-graduate degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management.

CFM appointed to carry out Multi Element Improvement Scheme

CHOICE Housing have appointed CFM to carry out Multi Element Improvement works to 70 of its properties in the Greater Belfast area. Works include replacement roofs, Gas Heating Installations, electrical rewires/upgrades, fitting of new kitchens, front doors and windows, external cyclical maintenance and decoration. Works shall be undertaken in live environments and have been carefully planned into an 18 week programme to minimise disruption to the buildings occupants.

Improvement works to community groups buildings

As part of improvement works to a number of community organisation premises throughout the North West and Causeway areas, CFM are supporting and providing improved accommodation and environments for Social Enterprises to operate from.

Currently we have completed works to more than a dozen community group premises with many more schemes in the current pipeline for delivery.  Galliagh Women’s Group is the latest to open their new community sewing hub in Derry, and we wish them every success with the continued development of their Social Enterprise.

CFM awarded place on APEX Framework

Building, Mechanical & Electrical works in live environments

CFM have been successful in being awarded a place on the APEX Building, Mechanical and Electrical Frameworks for both Lots 1 & 2. Framework projects will be throughout Northern Ireland and include all services/works relating to internal & external cyclical maintenance as well as mechanical and electrical installations/maintenance upgrades.

Works will mainly be carried out in occupied environments where people continue to live and work. Apex’s property portfolio is a mix of general needs accommodation along with purpose built supported accommodation for the elderly and people with disabilities.

This Framework agreement shall be for 4 years and CFM look forward to working closely with APEX Housing Association and their customers.

Combined Facilities Management Ltd has been named as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme.

The awards event in Dublin’s Convention Centre on 3rd March 2017 marked the ninth year of the Deloitte Best Managed Companies awards programme. In association with Barclays Bank Ireland, the gala dinner was attended by over 900 people from the Irish business community.

The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme recognises indigenous Irish companies across Ireland which are operating at the highest levels of business performance. The network of 127 Best Managed Companies now employs over 60,000 people around the country and has a combined turnover of almost €11bn. Recognising the importance of overseas markets for Irish companies, the Best Managed Companies also recorded an average growth in sales of 44% over the last three years.

CFM Open New Head Office & Customer Call Centre

Fourth site opens in Magherafelt

Due to continued growth and expansion, CFM have moved their Head Office and Maintenance Call Centre to new purpose-built facilities at Opus Business Park, Magherafelt. The project was designed, built and fitted out by CFM’s own in-house Projects and Construction team.

CFM deliver services from four sites strategically located throughout Northern Ireland. All contract administration will be delivered from the new Head office, along with the Customer Call Centre which handles in excess of 2,000 individual work requests weekly.  Specifically designed and developed Technology and IT systems allow for the centralisation and management of public & private sector contracts, with real time reporting on all live jobs available to clients 24/7.

Completion of residential improvement scheme

Internal Improvement Works

CFM recently completed an improvement scheme to a residential apartment block on behalf of Choice Housing. The scheme involved internal improvement works including new kitchens, bathrooms and alterations to heating systems. Works were completed within live environments, where tenants continued to live and occupy. This is the second project which CFM have completed this year on behalf of Choice Housing.

Choice are the largest independent housing association in Northern Ireland and are at the forefront in the provision of social housing and along with CFM are committed to the delivery of excellent customer service.

September 2016 saw CFM open its 'West' operations depot and office in Skeogh Industrial Estate, Derry.

This branch gives CFM a central base from which we will service our existing clients requirements in the West of the province. Currently we are providing an All Trades service to circa 9,000 social properties from here and the business has plans to further develop our service offering in Derry City and the surrounding areas.

Newtownabbey & Antrim Council

We've been awarded the term service mechanical contract for Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council. The contract is for a period of three years and will see CFM provide core mechanical works involving planned preventative, reactive maintenance and servicing of gas, oil, biomass boilers, and swimming pool plant.
The contract also involves providing 24/7/365 service to the councils 75 properties which include leisure centres, civic and amenity buildings.
Newtownabbey and Antrim borough councils merged in 2015 as part of the reform of council areas in Northern Ireland and provide crucial services on behalf of the 138,000 residents of the boroughs.

Fifteen Floor Apartment Block gets facelift

CFM have been appointed to carryout external concrete repairs to façade of a fifteen storey high rise apartment block in Belfast. Improvement works have been specified to the buildings envelope as its performance has been compromised at certain points where the buildings seal has allowed water to ingress causing damage to internal flats.

Works to the high rise building includes concrete structural repairs to existing panels of all fifteen floors including the fitting of external insulation to affected areas. In addition to the external repairs, internal works include refurbishment and upgrading of void flats including the fitting of new kitchens, bathrooms, doors, mechanical and electrical works.

Design & Build of Phase 4 of Business Park

CFM nominated contractor for insurance restoration project

CFM’s expertise within the Insurance restoration industry has resulted in the company successfully being nominated to undertake structural stability work to a residential dwelling which has suffered subsidence of its under structures and has become structurally unstable.

Works involve underpinning the existing structure, installing ground beams along with Mini Piling. Other works include the rebuilding of affected superstructures, roofing and refurbishment of entire property - reinstating it back to its pre-loss state.

CFM Insurance team will work closely with designers and engineers to ensure the occupants can be reinstated to their family home in as short a time frame as possible. 

Old Mill Restoration transformation to Heritage Museum

Beetling Mill gets new lease of life

CFM has been awarded restoration works to a former Beetling mill in an historic village in Mid-Ulster. Project works shall see the full internal and partial external restoration and fit out of old Linen museum that upon completion will provide tourists with an insight into the heritage of the old mill and local area.

CFM have successfully undertaken previous restoration projects to historic buildings working in partnership with designers reinstating them to their former glory.

Communal Allotments benefit from Rain Water Harvest System

CFM recently completed installation and commissioning of a Rain Water Harvest system to communal allotments. The rainwater harvesting is being used on site for collecting, storing and re using rainwater for landscape irrigation and other uses.

The rainwater is collected from various hard surfaces including rooftops and above-ground surfaces. Works were carried out in compliance with Northern Ireland Water regulations.

CFM Accept Award for Excellence In People Development

Paula Loughlin and Joe Keenan of CFM receive their award from Fergal O’Byrne NSAI and TD Gerald Nash. The EIPD Awards were hosted by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) in conjunction with Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) Ireland in the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin.

The awards celebrated the success of Irish Businesses from a range of industries including Pharmaceuticals, Education, Healthcare and Facilities Management. The awards, now in their 2nd year, were developed to promote the important roles that standards play in Ireland’s economy along with recognising the remarkable work businesses are doing in developing their people. CFM were the only company from Northern Ireland to be recognised this year, other award winners included some of Irelands largest organisations.

Raising awareness of Gas Safety

CFM is proud to be supporting Gas Safety Week 2015, taking place 14th – 20st September. Gas Safety Week is an annual safety week to raise awareness of gas safety and the importance of taking care of your gas appliances. It is co-ordinated by Gas Safe Register, the official list of gas engineers who are legally allowed to work on gas.  

Badly fitted and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. It is a highly poisonous gas. You can’t see it, taste it or smell it, but it can kill quickly with no warning.By taking care of your gas appliances properly you are taking care of your home and your loved ones.

Affordable Warmth Scheme

Protecting vulnerable householders from the effects of rising fuel bills

CFM’s Mechanical Division is putting its experience as a Warm Homes contractor to good use under the new Affordable Warmth Scheme.  Householders in Northern Ireland who need help to pay for energy efficiency improvements may be eligible for the government’s Affordable Warmth Scheme, which provides a package of energy-efficiency and heating measures, tailored to each household. 

All local councils across NI are targeting households identified as eligible for energy efficiency improvement work under this scheme. Areas considered most in need of energy efficiency measures will be contacted first.

CFM has been at the forefront of delivering energy efficient heating & insulation measures to households in fuel poverty across Northern Ireland.  CFM’s work has helped contribute towards the 20% increase in energy efficiency over the last decade in Northern Ireland and has helped bring carbon emissions down by almost three million tonnes per year.

CFM Ltd carried out Mechanical condition surveys and delivered improvement works to existing extraction & input ventilation systems within a food production factory for one of the UK’s largest bakeries.

Works had to be undertaken within a live site of approx. 65,000 sq ft which operates 24hours per day. Development of condition / location reports will allow for future planned preventative maintenance to be successfully carried out, ensuring sufficient air changes & providing a comfortable working environment.

CFM appointed main contractor on Low Energy Adaptation Project (LEAP)

Building to PassivHaus standards

NIHE appointed CFM as the main contractor of a Pilot scheme to construct it's first ever Low
Energy Adaptation Project (LEAP). Construction involved the off-site prefabrication of a modular building, whilst the construction on site was to PassivHaus standards, including installation of Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery System

NIHE are looking at ways of developing sustainable construction methods with a view to introducing them on future procurements. This project compares traditional construction to that of German PassivHaus standards and will be used as a benchmark against this fabric first approach.

Installation of vacuum and ventilation ductwork

CFM successfully delivered the installation of 500m of vacuum and mechanical ventilation pipework to a multi-national pharmaceutical plant in Dublin.

Working via Royal Sun Alliance’s Structural Consultant, CFM secured contract works to reinstate family home to its previous condition including Asbestos removal, New Kitchen, Bathroom, Stairwell, Plastering, Heating Installation and decoration. A strict 8 week Programme of works has been agreed to ensure family can move out of
temporary accommodation and back into their home minimising any further disruption for them in what has been a traumatic time. CFM’s Insurance Repair Division Staff have received specific Customer Care training to help ensure
Policy Holders Reinstatement works are carefully managed and the entire process is as stress free as possible.

CFM win Insurance Contract with Direct Line

Expanding our range of services to insurance industry

CFM awarded three year contract with Directline Insurance plc. Following an extensive and competitive procurement  exercise, CFM are delighted to regain its place as an incumbent contractor carrying out property reinstatement works on behalf of the Directline Groups National Insurance Repair Network. CFM have been working in Partnership with DLG (Formally part of RBS Group) since 2011 and have successfully fulfilled hundreds of claims on behalf of DLG. Providing M & E Services to NHS Hospital

CFM appointed to carryout refurbishment and servicing of main Plant room to Causeway Hospital, including associated works to Flues, Boilers, Generators and ultra-sonic testing of flue supports and brackets. Works were carried out in a complex live Hospital environment and involved careful scheduling and programming of works to eliminate possibility of any disruption to operation of Health Care facilities.
