In 2022, CFM was appointed by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive to deliver a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Retrofit programme to 155 properties in Greystone, Antrim. The project, split into three phases, aims to enhance the energy efficiency of these properties and contribute to reducing carbon emissions.
Funding and Programme Goals:
The works are part-funded by the ERDF through the Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme for Northern Ireland 2014-2020. This project aligns with Priority 3 of the programme, ‘Supporting the Shift Towards a Low Carbon Economy in all sectors’, by supporting energy efficiency in public infrastructure, including housing.
Scope of Work: The retrofit programme includes:
- External wall insulation (EWI)
- Internal wall insulation (IWI)
- New energy-efficient doors and windows
- Loft insulation
- Roof replacements
- Airtightness and ventilation improvements
Project Progress:
CFM successfully completed Phase 1, which included improvements to 43 properties, in April 2024, and has now commenced Phase 2.

This project will provide significant benefits by creating energy-efficient, comfortable homes. Tenants will enjoy improved living conditions while contributing to the wider goal of sustainable living. The retrofit work supports both environmental objectives and resident well-being by reducing energy consumption and carbon footprints.
