CFM were recently appointed by the Mid Ulster District Council to undertake complex restoration works to a Grade B1 listed former railway ‘Goods Shed’ built c.1870 and which is now used as a storage warehouse.
The project was subject to detailed inspection and approval from Council Planners and the Historic Environment Division (to ensure the historic fabric was maintained) and was further complicated by a highly constricted, live operational site as the building is adjacent to the access road to the towns civic amenity site.
The building had begun to suffer from weather damage including water ingress and the works included replacing all old roof sheeting, shot blasting, priming and repainting the original metal roofing trusses, enhancing blocked-up windows and doors with a wet dash plaster render and undertaking remedial works to sarking boards which had been damaged due to the water penetration.
Works are well under way, set to be complete by the end of the month.
